“Why We Can’t Afford to Cut Education Funding”

This week Roberto Rodriguez, the Deputy Assistant to the President for Education, blogged on The White House blog about 10 reasons why we can’t afford to cut education funding.  It was exciting to see his 5th reason for keeping education funding was the success of expanding learning time, specifically highlighting the progress of DC schools through the work of Kaya Henderson, Chancellor of DC Public Schools! Some other innovative strategies listed were Acceleration Academies, parent support through Parent Academies/Universities, mentorship programs, smaller class sizes, as well as college and career prep programs.
