NCTL's Key Priorities - Current ESEA Reauthorization Conversations

As Congress considers legislation to reauthorize ESEA, we urge members to maintain the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) program as a stand-alone grant program with funds available to support expanded learning time schools, after-school and summer programs.  Under this program, states should have the flexibility to design the programs to best meet the needs of their students and communities.

We also call on Congress to continue their focus on providing targeted resources that support interventions - including expanded learning time - in the country's lowest performing schools, as has been done under the School Improvement Grant (SIG) program.
